At Meandros Press, we take the utmost care to ensure that our books are carefully prepared, packaged and sent to you in good condition.
Damaged or Defective Books
Please inspect your book when it is delivered.
If your copy of a book arrives visibly damaged, you must notify Meandros Press within 48 hours of delivery and provide clear photographs of the damage.
If you believe your book has a manufacturing or production defect that materially affects the physical book, please contact us as soon as you become aware of the defect.
Please provide your order number and clear photographs or other information that may reasonably assist us in assessing the issue.
A physical defect may include, for example:
- missing or substantially damaged pages;
- pages that are incorrectly bound or have come loose;
- significant printing or production errors affecting the physical book;
- a materially defective cover; or
- damage that occurred during delivery.
A spelling mistake, typographical error, editorial error or other mistake in the text of a book does not, in itself, constitute a physical manufacturing or production defect.
Damage Caused After Delivery
We are not responsible for damage that occurs after delivery as a result of handling, misuse, neglect or accidental damage by the purchaser or another person.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- torn or ripped pages;
- pages or covers damaged by a child or pet;
- writing, drawing, highlighting or marking in the book;
- stains, spills or water damage;
- bent, folded or creased pages or covers caused after delivery; and
- any other physical damage caused after the book has been received.
Damage caused after delivery does not constitute a manufacturing or production defect.
Where a book is returned to us, we may inspect the book to determine whether the reported issue is consistent with a manufacturing, production or delivery defect.
Change of Mind
We do not accept returns or provide refunds simply because you have changed your mind, no longer want the book, ordered it in error, or do not like the book.
Returns
Please do not send a book back without first contacting Meandros Press and receiving return instructions.
Where we require a book to be returned, it must be packaged securely to prevent further damage during transit.
We may request photographs or other reasonable information before authorising a return.
Refunds and Replacements
Where a book is confirmed to be damaged or defective, we will provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with applicable South African consumer law. This may include a replacement or refund.
Where a refund is approved, it will normally be made using the original payment method.
The time taken for a refund to reflect in your account may depend on your bank or payment provider.
Statutory Consumer Rights
Nothing in this policy limits or excludes any rights you may have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or any other applicable South African law.
The 48-hour notification requirement is intended to ensure that damage apparent on delivery is reported promptly, allowing us to investigate the condition of the book and, where appropriate, the delivery process.
It does not limit any statutory consumer rights that may apply to defective, unsafe or inferior-quality goods.
